Welcome to the Atlantic Privateers Rugby Club — where tradition, camaraderie, and a fervent love for the game converge to form the cornerstone of our identity.

Our journey is a tapestry woven with the threads of history, intertwined with the maritime heritage of Atlantic Canada. Rugby Union's roots in Atlantic Canada trace back to the 19th century, when it was first introduced by the intrepid Privateers — seafarers who braved the open waters in search of adventure and glory. Inspired by their legacy of resilience and unity, our team draws its name from these courageous souls, embodying their spirit in every match we play.

Formed in October 2021, we burst onto the rugby scene as the "Atlantic Selects." From our inception, our mission has been clear: to foster the growth of rugby in Atlantic Canada while upholding the core values of sportsmanship, integrity, and teamwork.

In 2022, we etched our name in Canadian rugby history by hosting the inaugural Coast to Coast Cup tournament in Halifax, NS. This landmark event marked the beginning of the rebirth of a high-performance men's rugby competition in Canada. The success of the first Coast to Coast Cup inspired us to host the second edition in 2023.

Our journey reached new heights in September 2023 when we had the honour of hosting the Royal Navy Rugby Union in a historic match as part of Halifax's inaugural International Fleet Week. This momentous occasion celebrated the bonds of camaraderie forged through rugby and showcased our region's vibrant maritime culture to the world.

As we embark on this new chapter — rebranded as the "Atlantic Privateers" in January 2024 — we remain steadfast in our commitment to charting a course towards continued growth and success.
